Michelle's Biography

Michelle is a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario with a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School, York University (Canada). She holds a Bachelor's in Commerce from the University of Virginia and a Master's in Arts from Toronto Metropolitan University. For her Master's in 2010, she created an online journalism project focused on immigration detention and deportation in the Greater Toronto Area. 


In 2018 and 2019, Michelle worked as an immigration and citizenship lawyer at a mid-sized firm in Toronto. She completed her articles while working as a judicial fellow at the United Nations International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Netherlands.


As a Ghanaian-Canadian who was raised in England and Papua New Guinea before immigrating to Canada, Michelle is passionate about advocating for migrants and refugees from around the world. She is fluent in English and speaks some French.
